FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does the motorcycle course cost?

The New Rider Course is $295. That covers both classroom nights, both riding days, and the use of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the range.

When are classes held?

Every weekend, except certain holiday weekends. Use Find a Class on this page to see open dates.

What is included in the course?

Two nights of classroom work with a preliminary practice exam, then two days of riding on the range with a certified coach. When you complete the course you receive a certificate for the skills test.

Do I need my own motorcycle?

No. You learn on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle we provide. You bring the riding gear listed under What to Wear.

Does the course help me get my Louisiana motorcycle endorsement?

Yes. The course ends with a certificate for the skills test, which is the riding part of the endorsement. Take it to the Louisiana OMV with the rest of your paperwork; the OMV sets the remaining requirements.

Do you offer a three-wheel or trike course?

No. The Riding Academy is a two-wheel course only. What you learn carries over to the three-wheel models. Our guide to Harley-Davidson trikes explains how a trike rides differently.

I already ride. Is there a course for me?

Yes. The Advanced Rider Course is for licensed riders who want to sharpen their skills. If you are still choosing a bike, read our guide to the best first Harley-Davidson.
